Training as an IT systems electronics technician
In our training series, we present all four apprenticeships at the LZPD NRW. Today we are looking at the IT systems electronics technician apprenticeship. We introduce you to apprentice Alexander Minkevic. The 24-year-old from Duisburg is in his third year of training.

? What do you learn as a prospective IT systems electronics technician?

Basically, you learn everything to do with information technology and electronics. You spend a lot of time at the PC. We repair small electrical parts, work with hardware and software and program practical programs or work with the 3D printer, for example. We have a classroom and a PC room and then, if we need some theory, we have lessons on a topic here at the LZPD NRW.

? What do you particularly enjoy about your training?

The work shadowing that you do during your practical time here at the LZPD NRW is special. For example, I've already had a look at Windows development, or you do the normal day-to-day business with the administrators employed here. You sometimes travel all over NRW, as the LZPD NRW has many branch offices and links to the district government, for example. You quickly get to work independently and you quickly gain a lot of trust. That's not the case everywhere.

? And what prerequisites did you have to bring with you for the apprenticeship?

As we also work a lot on our own concepts and projects, you should be proactive and have a desire to develop your own projects. You can also shorten your training this way. I've just submitted my application. Otherwise, the apprenticeship lasts three years.
