Police officers from all over Europe have come to Germany for UEFA EURO 2024 and are working hand in hand with their German colleagues at the International Police Cooperation Center (IPCC) 2024 in Neuss: the information hub for security during the tournament.
While the stationary forces remain at the IPCC 2024 in Neuss as liaison officers for their countries, many police forces are deployed as mobile delegations at the venues. As scene spotters, they travel from match to match with the national team and the fans from their country. On match days, tens of thousands of fans are on site - even if they often do not have tickets for the games. They at least want to be close to the stadium and experience the great atmosphere at the public viewing.
Positive feedback for police work on social media
Spotters know potential violent problem fans from their own country and keep an eye on them. At the same time, they also provide advice and assistance to anyone who wants to celebrate peacefully and can be contacted at any time.
The comments that the police receive on the social media channels of the IPCC 2024 show how well this is received by the fans:
"Thank you. Take care of yourselves."
"Thank you so much for your commitment. Where would we be without you?"
"I always have a bit of a stomach ache when so many people come together. Thank you for keeping us safe."
"Thanks again to the police. I know your job isn't easy, but you always do your best to make other people feel comfortable."
