51 matches, eleven venues across Europe and restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic. The 2020 European Football Championship could only be held a year later than planned and brought with it many challenges for all those responsible. But as soon as Italy had received the trophy, all efforts were forgotten and a new goal was in sight: UEFA EURO 2024 in Germany.
NRW establishes International Police Cooperation Center
During UEFA EURO 2024, police officers from all participating nations and from neighboring and transit countries will work together. They know the problem fans from their home countries and will keep an eye on them. The German security authorities, including international security authorities and partners, will be in constant contact well in advance of the tournament to take all measures to ensure that violent troublemakers are not offered a stage for potential riots at UEFA EURO 2024.
Central Information Office Sports Operations in constant exchange
For Germany, the Central Information Office Sports Operations (ZIS), which is part of the State Office for Central Police Services (LZPD) NRW, is responsible for the exchange of information. It is in constant contact with the other nations via the European network of National Football Information Points (NFIP) and together they keep the information on preparations for UEFA EURO 2024 up to date.
The LZPD NRW has also been entrusted with the establishment of the International Police Cooperation Center. This is where the international police forces will work together. The IPCC 2024 will be set up in Neuss at the site of a police training center operated by the NRW State Office for Police Training, Further Training and Personnel Affairs (LAFP).
