LZPD NRW brings prevention concept to schools

Banned car races are a major issue for the police in North Rhine-Westphalia. Races or daredevil actions take place almost every day. It is mainly young men between the ages of 17 and 27 who are involved. This age group is characterized by an increased willingness to take risks, but is often not yet able to properly assess the consequences of their own actions.

With the previous prevention programs, it was hardly possible to reach this target group, which is why the LZPD NRW had the educational concept "Responsibility stops full throttle" developed. It can be used from the 10th grade onwards, i.e. shortly before young people get their driver's license. Using films, role-playing games and discussions, the aim is to make pupils think and lead them to make good and prudent decisions in road traffic.

The educational concept will initially be available to schools in Cologne, Aachen, Duisburg, Wuppertal and Recklinghausen. From the 2023/2024 school year, all schools in NRW will be able to use it.
